Hunting Collage II

"Cruise did very nicely for his first field trial. He had 2 finds one retrieve on a shot bird and one that he caught after holding point for several minutes. He changed point position 3 times to keep the bird from running out on him. The third time the bird ran right at him! So he caught it, retrieved it to me and it was in perfect condition (alive) - not a feather out of place. He does not yet hold to wing and shot. He ran VERY well and quartered perfectly."

Bird Dog Trainers, and long time English Setter owners, Hugh and Michele MacMaster, Setters Run Kennel, ran their Zoe x Zak puppy, "Setters Run Cruise OnRock" in his first Field Trial/Open Division against 29 other dogs/ April 12, 2008 report below:

"Storm had a great run, three points, three retrieves and one back and qualified for the State Trials."

"Storm placed 3rd out of 30 dogs. Eight of the dogs were flushing dogs and the other 22 were pointing dogs. If they had had two divisions one for flushing and one for pointing she would have placed first in the pointing!! They are talking about having two divisions during the Robert J Lytle Chapter RGS Fun Trial next year. Unfortunately Storm will be retired by that time as she will be 10 years old by then." Michele

Setters Run Cruise Onrock and his friends, Nitro, Chip, and Storm went to the Thundering Aspen Ruffed Grouse Society Field Trial in Mesick, Michigan on Sunday, May 04, 2008. This is "Cruise's" 2nd Field Trial and he ran in the Open Pointing Division and had 3 Points and 1 Safety.

"Chip and Hugh did it again!! Took 4th place out of 30 dogs running in the Open Pointing Division."

"But, because of also running a Flushing Division only the first 3 places can go to the State Trial in Sept, and the first place Flushing dog. So, we will try to qualify May 17th at the Gaylord trial to be held at Wild Wings in Alba."
